JENNIFER LEIGH INGRAM TRAVEL AWARD, 2018-2019

Research Triangle, NC Chapter of Graduate Women in Science (GWIS) has established a travel award in honor of Dr. Jennifer Leigh Ingram. This award is given to defray some of the costs that female graduate students incur while traveling to national or other major scientific meetings where they are presenting the results of their research.
Any female graduate student in North Carolina engaged in scientific research is eligible to apply but, other factors equal, preference will be given to active members of Research Triangle, NC chapter. There is no application fee associated with this award. The applicant should have limited other support for attending scientific meetings. The funds may be used for travel expenses and registration fees, not for room and board. The amount of the award is $500. Your meeting must take place after the award deadline, with the funds being available for use for 1 year from the time you win the award. Recipients of this award will be expected to provide a personal thank you letter to the awarding body, as well as a brief summary or written report about their experience at the meeting. The summary or report may be published on our website and/or newsletter and will be made available to the membership of GWIS and to the donor of the award fund. Additionally, the awardee should expect to be asked to present their research at one of the monthly GWIS – RT chapter meetings, either in person or virtually.
